Yolanda VanDevender, affectionately known as “Yo” by her loved ones, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, at the age of 76.
Yolanda was born on June 9, 1950, in Handle, Mississippi, to A. E. “Butch” and Christine VanDevender. She grew up in Ohio and, as an adult, made Arizona her home.
Yolanda was a successful realtor and business owner, but her most important and cherished roles were those of Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. Her family was the center of her life, and she will be remembered for the love, strength, and devotion she gave to those around her.
Yo enjoyed many hobbies, including crocheting, gardening, and painting. She was talented and capable of accomplishing just about anything she set her mind to. The word “can’t” simply was not part of her vocabulary. Her determination, creativity, and independent spirit were an inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
Yolanda is survived by her loving daughters, Pamela (Jason) Schuderer and Amanda Miskin; grandsons Zachary (Francine) Schuderer and Dylan Kelley; granddaughter Taylor Kelley; and great-granddaughter Trinity Schuderer of Peoria, Arizona.
She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon (Dan) Bodle of Gilbert, Arizona, and Gayle Rigdon of Meridian, Mississippi; niece Stacy Rigdon; and great-nephew Ethan Jackson.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alton E. "Butch" and Christine VanDevender, and her brother in law Donald Rigdon.
Yolanda will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, determination, and unique spirit will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
At this time, there will be no public services. A celebration of Yolanda’s life will be held at a later date.
