The Life and Legacy of Willie Usher White

Willie Usher White was born to the late George Washington and Bennie Mae White on March 28, 1948, in Buckhead, Georgia. To this union ten children were born and Willie was the youngest. He was preceded in death by his five extraordinary brothers, Harvey, Jesse, George, Sammy, and IV, as well as three truly amazing sisters, Gladyse, Lillian and Odessa.

Willie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jackson Grove Baptist Church in Morgan County Georgia. He later joined Morgan County Church of Christ, where he served as song leader. Until his passing, Willie was a faithful member of Faith Christian Center Church in Phoenix, Arizona under the leadership of Pastor Sean R. Moore, where he supported and served on the Comfort Team.

Willie attended Jackson Grove Elementary School and graduated from Pearl High School in Madison, Georgia. He also attended Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona. In 1967, Willie enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served overseas in several countries during the Vietnam era. While stationed in Thailand, Willie married Parnee Pangsomirt in 1970, and from that union a son, Antiny White was born. In 1984, Willie returned to the United States and was assigned to Luke Air Force Base where he retired as Master Sergeant in 1987 after 20 years of dedicated service. During his military career, Willie received several accolades and awards to include 32 military medals and special recognitions for his outstanding work performance and service in leadership. Following his military retirement, Willie was employed with Peoria Unified School District. He was hired in the Maintenance Department where he served at the school and district levels for 16 years prior to his final retirement as District Facilities Inspector.

On December 4, 1993, Willie entered into a covenant marriage with the love of his life, Anita Craig. From this union, he became the proud parent of Ramone Williams and Kiara Craig. Anyone who spent time with Willie could say without question; he truly loved Anita and each of his children. Willie was a strong, quiet, gentle spirit! A wise man of few words. He was extremely selfless and well disciplined. He led a life of unconditional love, faith in God, and devotion to his family.

Willie was a self-taught, multi-talented man, and he thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands. He was a multi-skilled handyman, well versed organic gardener and creative builder who used his talents in multiple ways. Some of his favorite hobbies included: woodwork, landscaping, gardening, fishing, barbecuing and traveling. He also enjoyed supporting various local and national charities to help care for those in need and to further the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Willie loved to decorate his yard at Christmas to present Jesus Christ to the community. His life-sized, beautiful handmade nativity display captured the attention of anyone who passed by. For several years, Willie won best Christmas decorated home in the community as recognized by Rovey Farms Homeowners Association. His willingness to share his talents to enrich the lives of others will be greatly missed!

Willie leaves to cherish his everlasting memory: his beloved wife of 32 years, Anita White; his children: son Antiny White, (Ericka) Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico; two grandsons, Jackson and Nicholas White, Cartersville, Georgia; son Ramone Williams, granddaughter Tiandra Williams of Avondale, AZ; daughter Kiara Craig of Phoenix, AZ, and one incredible sister, Anne Marks of Atlanta, GA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
