Vickie Ann Lewis Obituary

Please see the scheduled service date and times below.

Vickie Ann Lewis was born on June 25, 1961, to Robert and Fannie Mae Lewis in California. As the second youngest of six children, Vickie faced hardship early, losing her mother at just four years old. Soon after, she moved to Florence, Arizona where she found her calling in track and field becoming a standout star of women’s athletics. While she shone on the track, Vickie was never one for traditional dancing, she was a groover at heart, a natural two-stepper.

Vickie possessed a fiery passion for gold jewelry and the thrill of gambling. Cards, dominoes, tonk, rummy, and especially her beloved casino slots. With a playful ritual, she’d slap the side of the machine, rub the numbers, and kiss them to God then let the games begin.

Throughout her life, Vickie was known by many names, Shortline, Short Stack, and her favorite, Dynamite. Yet beyond every passion, her greatest love was always her family. She was delighted in the company of her sisters Pam, Diane and Shonda, with whom she shared a lifelong bond. Her children, Alvis Fletcher, Kenneth Fletcher, and Annie Mae Johnson, were always at the heart of her world. She poured wisdom, love, and encouragement into them, guiding them through adulthood. And as a grandmother, Vickie was a source of boundless pride—her grandchildren, Malakhi, Cameron, Layla, Journey, T’sai, and Damion, were the lights of her life.

Vickie is preceded in death by her mother, Fannie Mae, father, Robert Lewis, brothers Don and William Lewis, sister Diane Lewis, and nephew Robert Lewis. She leaves behind her husband, Victor Taylor, her devoted children, her two sisters, and six cherished grandchildren. Vickie’s love, spirit, and dynamite energy will forever live on in all who knew her.
