Richard Joseph Jones, best known as Rick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on June 2, 1957, in Winslow, Arizona, Richard was a man full of humor, heart, and hard work. He moved to Las Vegas as a young man with big dreams and an even bigger personality, which served him well in his lifelong profession as a bartender.
For over 42 years, Richard tended bar with unmatched charm and wit, spending 30 of those years at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He was more than just a bartender—he was a listening ear, a steady hand, and a source of laughter for countless patrons and friends over the decades.
Richard retired in 2019 and returned to Arizona, settling down with his daughter and enjoying a slower pace of life surrounded by family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kim Sasser-Jones; his son, Jacob Sasser along with Jacob’s partner Amanda and their three beautiful children—Josiah, Prince, and Valintina; and his daughter, Jessica Johnson and her husband Steven Johnson.
Richard now reunites with his beloved Jones family in heaven, including two children he loved deeply and missed dearly—Joseph and Kiesha.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, his generous spirit, and the love he shared so freely with those lucky enough to know him. Richard’s legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the lives he touched, and the stories that will be told for generations.
Rest easy, Rick. You poured more than drinks—you poured your heart into life.
