Ny'Jalee Reanna Calvin Obituary

Please see scheduled service date and times below.

It still feels like we're trying to wake up from a dream—a dream where
losing you doesn't feel real. Grief is the price we pay for great love, and
what a great love Ny’jalee gave us all. While our hearts ache with your
absence, we find peace in believing that you are resting, surrounded by
love, dancing, laughing, and reunited with your father and those who
welcomed you home.

Sometimes we don't realize just how deeply someone has become a part
of our lives until they're no longer here for us to hug, call, or laugh with.
Love has a way of growing deeper in their absence. Today, our hearts
speak what words never fully can—we miss you, we love you, and we will
carry you with us always.

Many of us knew Ny’jalee by different names—Shuggie, Nyja, Round
Head Shorty and Bobbie Jean, Nyjalee was born on November 20, 1998,
in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was raised and where she built lifelong
friendships and memories. She also graduated From South Pointe High
School. Ny’jalee was the beloved daughter of Robert Lee Calvin
Jr. and Nyrene Scott.

She leaves behind the greatest treasures of her heart, her beautiful
daughters, Nalayah and London. Who will forever carry pieces of their
mother's strength, beauty, and love. She is also survived by her loving
mother, Nyrene Scott, Grandmothers Gloria McElroy and Melva Calvin
and her siblings: Joliyah, Raheem, RoDerrick, Rohlin, Franklin, Ronesha,
and Keyara, along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, extended
family members, and dear friends whose lives she touched in
unforgettable ways.

Waiting to welcome Ny’jalee into Heaven were her father, Robert Lee
Calvin Jr., and her brothers, Robert Calvin III and Bobby Calvin IV. Her
grandfather, Robert Lee Calvin Sr., and Grandmother, Edna Denise
Calvin, Grandfather BJ Scott, Great-grandmother Helen McElroy, and
Eunice Scott. You will never be alone. We can only imagine the beautiful
reunion that took place.

Ny’jalee's life reached so many people that it would be impossible to name
everyone whose heart she touched. Her love knew no limits. Every person
gathered here today shares something special: a memory, a laugh, a lesson,
a conversation, or simply the blessing of having known Ny’jalee. We are
here because she mattered. She made a difference. She loved deeply, and
she was deeply loved in return.

Ny’jalee lived with a beautiful spirit. She was kind-hearted, spontaneous,
full of life, funny, and always knew how to make someone smile—even
when they didn't feel like smiling. She had a way of turning ordinary
moments into unforgettable memories.

Although there will always be a space in our hearts that only she can fill,
we choose today not only to mourn her passing but to celebrate her
remarkable life. We honor her by remembering the joy she brought us,
the love she gave so freely, and the countless ways she made our lives
better simply by being in them.

Letter to My Sister

I've backspaced and deleted every time I tried to write something down to say.
Truth is, I'm speechless. And you know me more than anyone in this world—I
always have something to say. But I don't today.
I'm writing this letter just to share my deepest love for you.
My heart is destroyed forever. I've lost you forever—my sister, my best friend. I
never thought our life would end here. This is it, huh?
I'm going to miss coming to the house, going straight to your room, and asking for
your snacks. I'm going to miss Sundays, watching Baddies together, or me opening
your door and just staring at you until you looked at me and said, "What, nigga?
Close my door."
We got together as much as we could. Holidays were a must for us.
We didn't really grow up being super affectionate with each other, but our love
language was laughing. We shared hugs and "I love yous," but we shared more
laughs than anything.
You are the best part of my life. All of my best memories—you’re in them.
I'm sorry my long talks didn't work. I'm sorry I wasn't there. I'm sorry I didn't go
harder. I carry so much guilt because I'm your protector. I'm your big sister.
I'm going to miss you so much, Fatty. And I promise to be here for your girls. We
always joked that if one of us passed away, the other would have each other's kids. I
always told you I would, and I will.
Fat, please don't worry. Stay with me every step of the way.
I love you until we meet again, the same way in the next lifetime. — Love Jo
Those are the moments we will carry forever. Those are the stories we'll continue
telling Nalayah and London so they will always know just how incredible their
mother was.
To her precious daughters: Your mother loved you beyond words. You were her
pride, her purpose, and her greatest joy. As you grow, may you always know that
her love surrounds you. You carry her smile, her strength, and her spirit, and
because of that, a part of her will always live on.
Thank you all for being here today. Your presence is a reflection of the love
Ny’jalee inspired throughout her life. It is comforting to look around this room and
see so many lives connected because of her.
As tears fill our eyes today, may they not only be tears of sorrow, love,
and memories, but every moment we were blessed to share with her. Though we
must say goodbye for now, this is not the end of her story. Love never ends.
Memories never fade. The impact she made will continue through her children,
her family, her friends, and everyone whose life she touched.

Until we meet again, rest peacefully. We love you forever.
