With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend, Maria Elena Morales-Yanez, who passed away on July 24, 2026, at the age of 71.

Maria made her home in Phoenix, Arizona, where she built a life centered around family, resilience, and unwavering love. She was a woman of incredible strength and determination. Fiercely stubborn in the best of ways, she faced life's challenges head-on and never backed down from what she believed was right. While she could be tough, everything she did came from a place of deep love and an unwavering desire to care for those around her.

To an entire generation of our family, Maria was known as the disciplinarian. It didn't matter whether you were her own child or someone else's—if you needed guidance, correction, or a reminder to do the right thing, she was there. Though her standards were high, so was her capacity to love. Looking back, those lessons became gifts that shaped the lives of so many who knew her.

Maria had a special place in her heart for her dogs. They weren't just pets—they were her babies, and she loved and cared for them with the same devotion she gave to her family.

Above all, Maria's greatest pride was her family. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Gilbert Yanez; her daughter, Anna Morales; her son, Marco Morales; and her beloved grandson,
Francisco Morales. Her love, strength, and unwavering spirit will continue to live on through them and through the many lives she touched.

Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that her love, her wisdom, and even her stubbornness will forever be a part of who we are. We will miss her deeply, cherish her always, and carry her memory with us every day.
