Margaret Papandreou Obituary

Scottsdale, AZ - Our dear mother, Margaret Papandreou, 90, sadly passed away on
Saturday, September 17, 2022. She was born on April 25, 1932 in Urmia, Iran, to Saul and
Julia Yohanna. Margaret was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and also dear
friend to many. She came to the United States at a young age. She graduated from North
Park and Mundelein Colleges and went on to become a social worker. As a social worker,
she met her future husband, Gregory. Together they had a family and settled in Park Ridge,
IL. Later, she attended Triton College to study nursing and became a registered nurse. She
worked for many years at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, IL and later at Shadow
Mountain Healthcare in Scottsdale, AZ. Margaret loved her family and friends fiercely and
she was deeply loved. She enjoyed cooking for everyone, especially Assyrian food, which
was a part of her cultural heritage. She learned how to cook many Greek dishes because of
her husband’s heritage. She was an amazing cook. Margaret made a lasting impression on
everyone she met with her beautiful, contagious smile, loving personality, never ending
generosity, sense of humor, and compassion. Ultimately, her pride and joy was her family,
but especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed walks with dear friends and in earlier years,
hiking with her husband in Arizona. Margaret is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years,
Gregory, her children Tina (Wayne) Kanter and Andrew; her grandchildren Nicole and
Alexandra. Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Mary (Sando) Isaac and her
parents, Saul and Julia. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to the Dementia Society of America. , P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901,1-800-
336-3684.
