It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Louis Ginns IV, who left us far too soon on April 17, 2026, at the age of 12, following a tragic car collision.
Louis was a bright, joyful, and deeply loving young soul who brought light into every space, he entered. Known for his warm smile, quick wit, and outgoing nature, he had a special way of making people feel seen, valued, and included. He was the kind of young man who stood up for others, especially those being bullied, and who made friends wherever he went.
He loved playing Roblox, basketball, and soccer, and had a special excitement for jump parks, music, and traveling. In his 12 years, Louis experienced more of the world than many do in a lifetime, visiting Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica, California, Texas, Louisiana, Chicago, Seattle, and Alaska. His curiosity and love for adventure were unmatched. In a bittersweet moment, his passport arrived in the mail just days after his passing—a reminder of the many journeys he had already taken, and those still ahead in spirit.
Louis was deeply loved by his classmates and community. In the days following his passing, many of his friends have come to his home to mourn, share memories, and support his family—a testament to the impact he had on so many young lives.
At home, Louis was the heart of his family—affectionate, kind, and full of love. He rarely let a day pass without hugging his parents, and his constant smile brought comfort and joy to those closest to him. He was brave, funny, and full of life in a way that will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his three siblings: Iesha Sue Washington, Alexandrya Fay Harris, and Curtis Richard Brown Jr. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephews: Oliver Robinson, Amelia Robinson, Amina Harris, and Elijah Robinson. Louis is further survived by his maternal uncles Tobias Washington and Malcom Washington, cousins Ayanna Washington and Muna Washington. He is further survived by Zenora Dail, Edwina Dail, Stacia Dail, and Rod Dail.
On his paternal side, Louis is survived by his grandmother Sharon Denise Johnson Corbin; his grandfather Marvin Eugene Ginns Sr.; his uncles Marvin Eugene Ginns Jr. and Marcus Dewayne Ginns; his aunts Ayanna Tene Ginns and Alicia Denise Corbin; and his grandmother Dorothy Ginns.
In his short 12 years, Louis touched so many lives, from complete strangers, random folks in the neighborhood to his closest friends: Ashton, Mason, JJ, Andrew, Oliver, Amelia and Elijah. And although Louis’s time with us was far too short, the love he gave, the friendships he built, and the joy he shared will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
