Joy L. King-Williams Obituary

Please see scheduled service date and times below.

Joy Leeane King-Williams, the beloved youngest child of Carolyn Lynette Burris and Clarence Lee King, was born on September 16, 1995. She was called home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2026, at the age of 30.

Joy accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and was baptized at Prayer House Sanctuary in Phoenix, Arizona. Her faith remained an important part of her life, and she continued to seek God through reading her Bible and participating in worship services.

Joy was known for her resilience and strength, overcoming many challenges throughout her life with determination and courage. She lived life on her own terms, never allowing obstacles to define her path. Joy’s beauty radiated both inside and out—her warm brown eyes and bright, unforgettable smile could light up any room.

She attended several schools, completing her middle school education at Valley View and continuing on to Cesar Chavez High School, where she was actively involved as a football equipment coordinator, traveling with the team, and also participated in the school choir. During her summers, Joy gave back to her community as a teen volunteer with the City of Phoenix Youth Program at Eastlake Community Center.

Joy went on to earn her GED in 2018 through Rio Salado Community College, a milestone she celebrated in her own special way—by hosting a beautifully decorated, dress-up celebration complete with her own cooking. She later furthered her education by graduating from Carrington College in October 2023 with a certification in Medical Billing and Coding.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Joy had many talents and passions. She was a vibrant dancer, a natural “life of the party,” and someone who brought energy and joy wherever she went. Known affectionately as a “turn-up queen” by those who loved her, Joy embraced life fully, traveling, enjoying the beach, and forming lasting friendships along the way.

As an entrepreneur, Joy founded her own food service business, “Wanna Kiss The Cook,” where she became known for her flavorful dishes and especially her famous birria tacos, made with her signature homemade consommé. Her cooking left a lasting impression on everyone who tasted it.

She attended several churches over the years and was a current member of Berean Community Fellowship where she continued to grow in her spiritual journey.

Joy was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Lee King Sr, and her brother, Trevon Burris Sr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving mother, Carolyn Burris; her adopted mother, Angela (Brian) Hubbard; her spiritual mother, Marcine Caddy; her godsons, Sekoni Patterson and Zyan Flynn; her sisters: Darkenya Burris, April Coleman, and Jasmine Hendrix; her brothers: Antoine Wooten, Dominic Hendrix, Clarence King “PK”, Clarence King “PaPa”, and Jacob Williams; her grandparents, Gene and Cynthia Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
