Janet L. Littles, 67 of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones, on February 10, 2026.
Born in 1959 in Brooklyn, NY, to Leroy B Littles and Fannie Mae Butler-Littles, Janet was known for her vibrant enthusiasm for life, particularly her unwavering kindness and infectious laughter. Her passion for dance shone brightly as she reveled in her role as a majorette with the Bushwick Royale Drum Corp. She graduated from Brooklyn College in 1978, her excitement for learning fueling her continued studies at Cornell University.
Beyond her professional life, Janet was a woman of many passions. She found great joy in joining a horseback riding club here in AZ, connecting with a host of new friends and family. Her home was always a place of warmth, and she will be remembered as the "anchor in the storm" by those who knew her.
Throughout her illness, which involved congestive heart failure, stage 1 breast cancer, Sojourner’s disease, and diverticulitis, she faced significant medical challenges. During each visit and telehealth call, she always found a bright side. We hoped for a positive outcome each time; ultimately, her condition progressed, and her life’s work was complete.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Butler; her niece, Toya Butler Legette; her nephew-in-law, Elwood Legette; and a wide circle of friends from east to west. Janet’s legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will live on in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting example of compassion and strength for her family and friends.
