She is survived by her brother, Madison Campbell, and sister, Blanch Leak. She leaves behind three beautiful children, Lyvonne, Denise, and Nathaniel, and a host of nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to cherish her memory.
After a long career with the U.S. General Services Administration as a Contract Specialist in New York City, NY, Henrietta opted for warmer weather and relocated to Arizona. She was a member of Gethsemane Park Apostolic Church in Mesa, AZ. She had a passion for genealogy and established the Black Family Genealogy and History Society (BFGHS), where she was the first presiding President of the organization. The BFGHS mission was to help others trace their family lineage. Henrietta was an avid reader and a long-standing member of the Sister-to-Sister book club. She also enjoyed traveling and playing cards and was a member of the American Bridge Association and American Contract Bridge League. Henrietta was a past Matron of the Eastern Stars in the state of New York.
On Aging
When you see me sitting quietly, like a sack left on the shelf, Don’t think I need your chattering. I'm listening to myself. Hold! Stop! Don't pity me! Hold! Stop your sympathy! Understanding if you got it, Otherwise I'll do without it! When my bones are stiff and aching, And my feet won't climb the stair, I will only ask one favor: Don't bring me no rocking chair. When you see me walking, stumbling, Don't study and get it wrong. ‘Cause tired don't mean lazy And every goodbye ain't gone. I'm the same person I was back then, A little less hair, a little less chin, A lot less lungs and much less wind. But ain't I lucky I can still breathe in. ~ Dr. Maya Angelou~
