Gilbert Bernal was born on June 2, 1943, in Silver City, New
Mexico, to Sabas Bernal and Francisca Beltran Bernal. He was
one of eleven children, growing up alongside six sisters and four
brothers in a large, loving family that helped shape his deep
sense of connection, faith, and kindness.
From a young age, Gilbert accepted Jesus Christ into his life, a
decision that would guide him for the rest of his years. His faith
was not only something he believed in, but something he lived
and shared. He often reminded others that “Jesus is love,” and
he carried that message in his words, his actions, and the way he
treated everyone around him.
On June 2, 1966, he married the love of his life, Gloria Bernal.
Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and
devotion. They were blessed with three children: Gilbert
Junior, Sonia, and Vanessa, who were the pride and joy of his
life.
Gilbert dedicated 30 years of hard work to Motorola, where he
built a career through dedication and integrity. Afterward, he
continued serving others as a security guard. Beyond his
professional life, he was also a Bible teacher who loved
spreading the word of God. He found purpose in encouraging
others, writing about his faith, and sharing God’s love wherever
he went.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Bianca, Nikki,
Christina, Victoria, Pedro Junior, and Jamie, and a cherished
great-grandfather to Xavier, Justine, Melly, Nicholas, Elena,
Lovaz, Josiah, and Gonzalo. His family was his greatest joy, and
he treasured every moment spent with them.
Gilbert loved life in its simplest and most meaningful forms. He
enjoyed camping, being outdoors, riding bikes, traveling, going
to church, and gathering for family dinners. Whether it was a
quiet moment writing about God or a joyful day surrounded by
loved ones, he embraced every experience with gratitude and
warmth.
He was known for being genuine, friendly, and humble. His
beautiful smile could light up any room, and his presence
brought comfort, peace, and happiness to those around him.
To his family, he was more than a father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather—he was their sunshine and their hero.
Gilbert Bernal’s legacy is one of faith, love, and unwavering
kindness. Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit
lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be
forever remembered, forever cherished, and forever engraved
in our hearts.
