Edward Charles Shans Obituary

Please see scheduled service date and times below.

Edward Charles Shans was born in Phoenix, Arizona on December 20, 1969, to Holly Shans and Edward Charles Armstrong (who preceded him in death.) He leaves behind to mourn, his mother Holly Richmond, Grandmother RosaLee Taylor, sister Brianne Richmond, two brothers Robert Shans (Tiffany), and Aaron Armstrong. He also leaves his longtime girlfriend Michelle Martinez, eight children, Derrik Shans, Jordan Shans, Sean Shans (Jordan), Nathaniel Martinez, James Shans, Matthew Shans, Noah Shans, and Eli Shans. He also leaves four grandchildren, Amiyaha Munson, Derrik Shans Jr., Leila Morrison, and Sean Shans Jr. He also leaves behind a large family full of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a plethora of good friends.

Edward graduated from Orangedale Elementary School and later from Camelback High School. He was an all-around athlete and grew up playing baseball, football, basketball, soccer, gymnastics, and ran track. Edward was a superfan of the LA Dodgers and he loved watching Mookie Betts, the Phoenix Suns and Devin Booker, but most of all he loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. Especially Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, CeeDee Lamb, and Dak Prescott.

Edward also enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, shooting dice, and dancing (he started in first grade with a Folklorico group and continued to dance throughout his life).

He worked in maintenance and was always tinkering with tools around the house, but those hands also had a love for cooking. Edward was an excellent cook; you could often find him planning his family's meals. He started cooking in sixth grade, first mastering muffins (which his family had to eat with every meal), and he worked as a caterer for many years. He had a quiet demeanor, but he was very silly, loved to joke around, a gentle soul, with a big heart.
