Deborah La Sandra Coleman Obituary

Please see scheduled service date and times below.

Deborah-Prophetess, a judge over the tribes of Israel. The armies of Israel would not go to war until Deborah had received direct instruction from God. In Hebrew, to know one's name is to know their essence.

Deborah LaSandra Coleman was born September 27, 1949, at Charity Hospital, New Orleans, LA to Johnny Williams, Sr.  and Lorece Jones.

She was raised by her paternal grandparents, John L. and Emily Williams in Flagstaff, AZ.

Deborah attended South Beaver Elementary, Flagstaff High School and Arizona State College (now known as Northern Arizona University). She received several certifications and an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Aurora Community College.

She held executive administrative roles at Coconino High School, the United States Geological Society (USGS), McGlone Elementary, Bishop Machbeuf High School, and the Juvenile Detention Center.

On June 16, 1979, Deborah married Benjamin Coleman, Jr. That union produced three daughters: Toffee, Monique and Toye.

In 1983, Benjamin and Deborah moved with Toffee and Monique to Colorado furthering Benjamin's railroad career. There they later had Toye and remained there for more than 30 years raising their children and grandchildren.

In the early 1990s, Deborah became an entrepreneur and opened her own childcare center, Angel Care Day Care. Deborah was a mentor to many early childhood educators and young people.  She supported and developed over 20+ children's development from 3 months to 5 years old. Many of her "little angels” credit her for their development and paths into business, medical and science careers.

Deborah retired in the early 2000s and enjoyed hobbies such as shopping for unique gifts, interior decorating and spending time with her family. After Benjamin's retirement in 2014, they moved to San Tan Valley, AZ to be closer to extended family.

She had a true passion for plants, singing, and music.  Blessed with a green thumb, Deborah was a horticulturist and had a gift for song.  She was a profound psalmist and proverbial woman.

Deborah was a woman of extraordinary faith, having accepted Christ at an early age and becoming a member of First Missionary Baptist Church (Flagstaff, AZ). She was an active member of her church singing, directing the choir, and leading praise and worship. Deborah continued her ministries at Now Faith Christian Center (Denver, CO), Colorado Mass Community Choir, and Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church (Phoenix, AZ).

Deborah transitioned on February 9, 2026. She's proceeded in death by her parents Johnny Williams, Sr, Lorece Jones and Juanita Williams, grandparents (John L. and Emily Williams), sisters (Gloriadell Moore, Montores Joe, Phyllis Williams, Joy Williams- James) and nephew Arnold Joe.

She is survived by her husband Benjamin, daughters Toffee, Monique and Toye, grandchildren Johnathan, Alaja, Isiah, Cherrish, and Makya, brothers Phillip Williams, Johnny Williams, Jr, (Kathy) and sisters (Linda Mackey (Columbus), Jacqueline Johnson (Frank) and Katherine Henderson (Michael), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and many friends.
