Antonia Isela Garcia
June 13, 1967 – May 6, 2025
Antonia Isela Garcia, beloved wife, mother, madrina, comadre, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on June 13, 1967, in Chihuahua, Mexico, she was the cherished daughter of Yolanda Rivera and Matias Garcia.
Isela and her devoted husband, Luis Cesar Rodriguez immigrated to the United States with their daughters, Janeth and Jennifer, embarking on a new chapter in Phoenix. Their marriage of over 30 years was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and faith.
A life dedicated to hard work and service, Isela’s earliest years saw her contributing as a field laborer, housekeeper, and car parts factory worker in Mexico. In Phoenix she opened her heart and home to countless family members, friends, and the children in her care. She was most recently a treasured caregiver for the Zamorano family and their daughter Catalina.
Isela dedicated her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. Raising not only her four children but her three grandchildren. Her first grandson Alan, whom she was a second mother to and cared for as her own son as well as her first granddaughter Jade, who she shared a most special connection and bond with and her last grandson Erick. There was rarely a day when she was without one of them. Her love for them was boundless, and their love for her just as deep.
As a devoted parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church for more than two decades, she never missed the 1 pm Mass or the welcoming gatherings that followed. Her faith was woven through every aspect of her life, inspiring her commitment to caring for others.
Isela’s warmth was legendary. She nurtured her culture through language, food, music, and tradition—most famously with her amazing menudo—and her home was a place of refuge and joy for many.
She loved celebrating with friends and family. She loved music and dancing; especially Cumbias and Norteña music, there was rarely a weekend that she wasn’t enjoying time with the ones she loved.
She is survived by her husband, Luis Cesar Rodriguez; her children Janeth Rodriguez, Jennifer Rodriguez Garcia, Cesar Rodriguez Garcia, and Alexis Rodriguez Garcia; her siblings Lilia, Olga, and Jorge Garcia; and her beloved grandchildren Alan, Erick, and Jade. Antonia also held the special role of madrina to Alejandra and Kevin and was a second mother to many of her children’s friends.
Isela’s legacy of love, hospitality, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A rosary will be held after the services—details to be announced.
We invite all who were touched by Isela’s kindness to join us in honoring her life and memory.
