Roy Edward Collins Jr.
Roy Edwards Collins Jr., a longtime resident of Arizona and Oklahoma passed away on September 23rd, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ after a very short stay in Phoenix Baptist Hospital.
Roy was born on September 3rd, 1948 in Mesa, AZ. He was the oldest of 8 children. He served in the Vietnam conflict as a Stockade guard in the U.S. Army. He spent most of his life in a lot of pain but he was quick to tell you he was doing good “with the help of the Lord”. He is remembered for holding his Grandson’s hand and singing to him while his Daughter went to the store for them, walking with his Daughter to the store and other places and talking about things even though it hurt him to do that, and helping others in need with what he had. He was a beloved Son, Brother, Dad, Grandpa, and Friend.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Roy Collins Sr. and Ruby Huffines, and by his brothers: Robert Collins and Allen Collins, and by his sisters: Faye Frick and Sarah Bussinger. He is survived by three sisters: Janey Horton of Stillwater, OK; Cathy Hostutler of Pawnee, OK; and Mary and Ray Knowles of Fairfax, OK, and his son: Keith and Jo Ellen Hagedon of Sierra Vista, AZ, and his two daughters: Julie Ann Collins II of Phoenix, AZ; and Sarah Collins of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his 8 Grandchildren: Roberta, Ruby, Roman, Jacob, Keith II, Alex, Angelika, and Mary.
Services for Roy will be Friday September 29, 2017 at 1130AM at Peace Chapel Funeral Home located at 3209 E Pinchot Ave, Phoenix, AZ. Followed by Internment at 2:30pm at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona located at 23029 N Cave Creek Rd in Phoenix, AZ.
